Take a look at the process of handbuilding clay and metal artwork.

In the clay studio, red clay is manipulated into the shape of a bowl. The second photo is a rolled out sheet of clay is being cut into a leaf pattern to form a platter.  After the clay is dry, which takes a week or two, it is put into the kiln and bisque fired to one thousand nine hundred and forty degrees.  Glazes can now be applied and the piece is fired again.  This time to one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight degrees.  After the piece is cool, it is ready to use!

All of our outdoor metal artwork is created by using recycled and found materials.  The art piece starts at the salvage yard whether it is a fifty five gallon drum, machine part or just discarded junk.  In the metal studio, along with my husband Dave, the metal is cut, ground, heated and welded into shape.  The sparks are flying!
